Camera Obscura officially marked their return last night with an intimate charity fundraiser in their hometown of Glasgow. Warming up for a run of shows at SXSW in Austin in a few weeks time, they also used it as a chance to play some new tracks for the very first time and to announce that a new album was on the way. With nearly four years having passed since their 4AD debut, the excellent My Maudlin Career, it’s news that’s sure to please many.

The new album, Desire Lines, was recorded last December when the band decamped to Portland to work with GRAMMY nominated producer Tucker Martine (R.E.M., Spoon, My Morning Jacket) and pleased with the progress they made there, they returned a month later to finish it. Entitled Desire Lines, it’s now slated it for release on June 4th (3^rd in UK/EU).

Tracyanne Campbell from the band, “Of all our records this was pretty much the most challenging to write, partly because of the situation we found ourselves in with having to take such a long and uncertain amount of time out, but also because it would be record number five and we were getting harder and harder to please.

Working in the US with southern gentleman Tucker Martine was a positive experience. He brought a certain calmness to recording that wasn’t there before. We were also delighted to have Neko Case and Jim James sing on the record too. What a treat.

Camera Obscura have a busy year of touring ahead of them and to add to a handful of festival dates and a run in North America with She & Him already announced, they are today adding a UK tour around the album’s release and more shows in North America. Tickets go on sale for most shows in a week’s time.

The third annual installment of the All Stars Tour has taken shape for this summer
and this touring package comes out swinging for the fences with it's most diverse
line-up yet. Buffalo's Every Time I Die are this year's headliner as this will also
mark their final run in support of their highly acclaimed album, Ex Lives. The tour
also features Chelsea Grin, Veil of Maya, Terror, Stray From The Path, Capture The
Crown, IWrestledABearOnce, For All Those Sleeping and DayShell. Structures,
Volumes and other special guests will also be performing in select markets.

Keith Buckley (ETID vocalist) states: “We've always put a lot of effort into making
this band work and when we perform we do so at the highest level of intensity, so
to finally be deemed an 'AllStar' is a dream come true. I plan on relaxing in a hot
tub with Wade Boggs or smoking huge cigars with Ronnie Harmon talking about
our visits to Hollywood. Those are just some casual things us AllStars do when
we're not giving 110%. But that's rare. This tour has a solid line-up and we're
excited to be a part of it. See you all this summer.”
